Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points with needles on the body to alleviate pain, calm the nervous system, combat allergies, regulate hormones and reduce stress. Acupuncture works in reducing pain by interrupting pain signaling. Acting as a natural analgesic acupuncture promotes circulation and reduces pro inflammatory markers in the body.


Massage Therapy

Massage is an integral part of Total Acupuncture and Physical Therapy. Massage can help reduce stress, lessen pain and muscle tightness, improve the immune system and increase relaxation.


Physical Therapy

Physical therapy with our providers includes a combination of manual therapy, stretches, and exercises to strengthen targeted tissues, stimulate healing, ease pain, and reduce the risk of future injuries. Through personalized one-on-one attention, our physical therapists gain a deep understanding of your condition and are able to optimize your rehabilitation process.

Lineth Aragon has been practicing massage therapy for over 15 years. She specializes in sports massage, deep tissue, reflexology, Swedish massage and has a keen sense of how to approach working with her patients. Frank Failla, DPT, is a highly respected doctor of physical therapy at Total Acupuncture and Physical Therapy in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. He graduated from Columbia University in 2007, earning a Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy with Honors. He practiced in Upper Montclair, NJ, for over ten years before he founded his current practice in Cedar Grove, NJ. Dr. Failla takes pride in providing one-on-one physical therapy in a private setting, creating a relaxing and nurturing environment.

Throughout his fifteen years of advanced orthopedic practice, Dr. Failla has taken extensive continuing education courses in manual therapy, myofascial release, and osteopathic techniques. He has trained with the McKenzie Institute in mechanical diagnosis and treatment of the spine; the Barral Institute in neural manipulation for an integrative approach to pain and dysfunction; the Upledger Institute in craniosacral therapy; and the Institute of Physical Art in functional and visceral mobilization. He is a certified provider of Active Release Technique.

Early in his career, he was exposed to Eastern medicine and taught clinical structural anatomy assessment at the Eastern School of Acupuncture in Essex County New Jersey. Throughout his career, he has been fortunate to collaborate with Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners Jason Sargis, LAc, and Christine Marcarian, LAc, to create a holistic approach combining Western and Eastern philosophies.

Dr. Failla enjoys helping patients who have struggled to find pain relief using conventional medical disciplines. He believes patients can often avoid surgical procedures through proper care and lifestyle modifications.

Christine Marcarian, LAc, is a licensed acupuncturist, massage therapist, and herbalist. She founded AcupunctureBody, LLC, in 2011 and has worked in healthcare and wellness for nearly fifteen years. Christine earned a Master of Science in Acupuncture in 2008 and a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2010 from the Tristate College of Acupuncture in New York, NY. She studied massage therapy at the Swedish Institute College of Health Science in New York, NY. Early in her career, Christine Marcarian, LAc, worked in hospital settings and private orthopedic practices. She completed an Integrative Musculoskeletal Externship under the directorship of Dr. Alex Moroz at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at NYU Langone Health in New York, NY. Christine Marcarian, LAc, worked in the pediatric oncology department at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ, as an acupuncturist and massage therapist for two years. For five years, she worked for the director of orthopedic medicine at the Active Center for Health and Wellness at Hackensack Meridian Hospital before opening AcupunctureBody, LLC, in Cedar Grove, NJ, in 2011. She completed the SMAC program in September 2017 to expand her services and to continue offering her clients the top care they deserve. When taking her SMAC training courses, she was given the tools and resources needed to properly assess, diagnose, and treat a range of orthopedic injuries and chronic pain. Jason Sargis, DAOM, Dipl Ac (NCCAOM), C.SMA, LAc, is the President and Director of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine at Total Acupuncture, LLC,Cedar Grove, NJ. In 2008, Dr. Sargis founded Total Acupuncture, LLC, an acupuncture practice that provides well-rounded and thoughtful treatment for all patients. Dr. Sargis’s approach to acupuncture is informed by his clinical studies in Beijing and his background as a biology major at the University of Chicago, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. Dr. Sargis’s practice focuses on helping people achieve optimal health and well-being in every phase of their healing journey.

Dr. Jason Sargis is committed to excellence in the clinical space by expanding his knowledge base and skill set. Dr. Sargis earned his Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine which focused on women’s health and aging adults. To meet the needs of patients undergoing cancer treatment, he became certified in Oncology Acupuncture through Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine Service. A lifelong athlete and martial artist, Dr. Sargis is certified in Sports Medicine Acupuncture. Jennifer Walton, MSPT, is an experienced and compassionate physical therapist at Total Acupuncture and Physical Therapy in Cedar Grove, NJ. Jennifer earned a Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Ithaca College in 2000. After college, Jennifer moved to the Washington D.C. area, where she began her career focusing on outpatient orthopedics. She worked closely with orthopedic surgeons in developing and implementing treatment protocols for post-surgical conditions such as total knee and hip replacements, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, and spinal fusion. She has extensive experience in treating chronic neck and lower back pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, ankle sprains, and plantar fasciitis.

Jennifer specializes in falls and injury prevention for seniors, focusing on balance and stability. With over 15 years of experience, she has gained a deep understanding of the intricacies of the human body at various life stages. She utilizes a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and functional training to help patients reach their recovery goals and restore quality of life.

In her free time, Jennifer loves to spend time with her son and husband, volunteer at her son’s school, and cheer on the New York Giants.
